Let's Play a Bit of...What's This?

This is what sprouts from the weird seeds at the center of the female sego palm. Pretty cool, Huh? Thanks for the update picture Mom.

Sago palm eh? Well, I'd never have guessed that! I do wish we could grow palms here, they are so pretty.

My stepmother has several of these plants in her side yard - they must be quite old since they are huge. Her gardener keeps them thinned out at the bottom so that a burgler or the like can't hide in them ....

P.S. she lives just off the coast a little east of Panama City - the climate is a lot more temperate than 40 miles inland where I live.

Your Mom must be in climate zone 8 or warmer also.
