Look What We Did Today !!!

Caroline and I began the day sitting on the fence as to whether we would be getting along or not. Fortunately, Cheryl had stopped by to drop off some of her daffies, which got me a bit more motivated. Finally, I dragged Caroline out of the house to the town green that Cheryl, myself, and Caroline have been working on for the past few weeks. With a bunch of edging to be placed and mulch to be spread, I figured I could get Caroline to be Queen of the Mulch Pile while I hauled buckets of mulch and finished the edging. We worked there for about an hour, then headed home for lunch...a picnic in the front yard of ham and cheese sandwiches, a carrot, some cucumber, and water, of which she ate the carrot and cucumber, leaving me with the sandwiches to share with the wildlife.
Anyway, I had expanded the gardens that are located at the front of the house. So today we laid the edging, redid the stone border, and transplanted or moved about seven plants. Then down to the ditch to do some muck raking, wading, and more planting; before we knew it, it was 5:08 pm. We had started our mad gardening day at about 10 am. Caroline was asleep as her head hit her pillow and hopefully my inability to sleep won't kick in.

Getting started.

"I have the biggest poppy!!!!!!"

Extended the right front garden around the hacked back holly bush.
Transplanted some of the smaller variety of bleeding heart and a hosta under the holly.

The "finished" product. Tomorrow the left side of the front garden.

My helper. The tractor actually has a trailer that attaches to the back and has proven quite helpful at times. I wish I had a real John Deere.

Taking a break from wading and "painting" with the mud.

Large bleeding heart.

Sweet lily of the valley. Notice the bug on the first full bloom?
