Oh I love the Foxglove and Red Hot pokers, I planted seeds for both of them and now I can't tell what the leaves of my seedlings are yet but I do hope I get these two for sure, when did you plant those??? Where are they, I can't see from the road when I drive by

Thank you Cheryl. I saw that little snake today and it was actually EXTREMELY agressive; I'm glad Caroline wasn't with me when I found it. It's markings were a bit different from a garter snake, so I need to look it up.
Kris-the foxglove leaves are an elongated, teardrop shape that are kinda fuzzy. The Red Hot Pokers look similar to a day lily, but are much narrower, rougher, and stiffer. The foxglove are behind my snowball tree and the Poker plant is tucked behind the day lilies. BTW-I too have seen Billy Joel a couple of times; he really does put on a great show, especially in a smaller venue.
Sunny times, good times in the summer time!! Caroline is going to have good memories of these days.
Hmmm, maybe you saw a different snake? The one I saw was definitely a garter snake, of the brown variety. He wasn't aggressive either, all he wanted was to get away from me as quick as possible.
I have a larger version hanging out in one of my stone walls, and it has never been aggressive at all. I even reviewed pictures of snakes indigenous to Ct. to make sure...
I have come across an aggressive little snake once up here...not sure what it was but I was walking Mojo down the road, he walked right over it & then I almost stepped on it. It was coiled up ready to strike, & shaking it's tail (no rattle). I don't know if it was a juvenile rattler or what, but it was very feisty! (this was before internet access, & I don't remember it's markings).
