Caroline Goes to Work

Caroline is off to work with her Daddy.  She is beyond excited.  Brett and the owner of the company even supplied her with a business monogrammed shirt and Carhart work pants (pink of course).

Here she's ready to go...coffee in hand, and flashlight and notebook in pocket.

Brett and Caroline ready to go.  Have fun you two.

Happy Easter

What would Easter be without the lovely chicken?  Eggless.  So here is an update on our fine foul feathered family members.  Caroline can now officially be called a chicken whisperer as some of the following pictures will attest...
Caroline wrangling the chickens.  They are still in the basement but have grown into a 100 gallon tub.

Caroline has taught her Dominique, named Rosetta, to play "Queen of the Mountain".  The darn chicken will sit on her head for quite some time.

Arrgghh...it's the Chicken Pirate.  I'm amazed at all the things Caroline can do to this darn chicken and Rosetta just seems to enjoy the attention.

The chickens are now part of our bedtime routine.  Here is Caroline giving her Rosetta her good night hug and kiss.

With all this attention the birds are getting, I just have to wonder how they or should I say Caroline and me, will adjust to being out in the chicken coop when the weather gets warm enough :-)

Hens As Adults

From top :  Barred Rock, Buff Cochin, Araucana, and Dominique.  I'll try to get an pictures of the individual chicks next to the adult soon; it's not good to handle the babies too much too soon.

Latest Family Members

Their names are Rose, Rosetta, New Hampshire, Boston, and Butter.  I hope they all make it through Caroline's "cuddling" stage.  I do have to admit that they might not survive my "cuddling" stage either.  They are so stinking cute.  Caroline gave up her playhouse in the back yard for these little girls.  We gave her the choice of chickens in the playhouse/coup, or no chickens.  I think she'll have more fun with the birds.

A Smile

The Storm...

They were together in the house.
Just the two of them. It was a cold, dark, stormy night.
The storm had come quickly and
each time
the thunder boomed he watched her jump..
She looked across the room and admired his
strong appearance...and wished that he would
take her in his arms, comfort her and protect
her from the storm.
Suddenly, with a pop, the power went out...
She screamed...
He raced to the sofa where she was cowering.
He didn't hesitate to pull her into his arms.
He knew this was a forbidden union and
expected her to pull back.
He was surprised when she didn't
resist but instead clung to him.
The storm raged on....
They knew it was wrong...
Their families would never understand...
So consumed were they in their FEAR
that they heard no opening of doors...
just the faint click of a camera......
